Q2. What is the environmental rating of Verdecor panels?
Verdecor's MDF and Particleboard decorative panels are certified as Super E0 (SE0)—the first decorative panel brand in the Australian market to fully meet this high environmental standard. According to random sample testing conducted by a NATA-accredited laboratory, our panels have demonstrated a formaldehyde emission rate of 0.17 mg/L, significantly below the Super E0 limit of 0.3 mg/L, as defined by the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star Buildings V1 Revision C (Credit 13: Exposure to Toxins).
The emission testing method used is the desiccator method, compliant with Australian Standard AS/NZS 4266.1:2017, Method 16. This widely recognised testing procedure evaluates formaldehyde emissions by measuring the amount released from randomly selected panel samples stored in a sealed container.
Additionally, our panels comply with rigorous international standards, including Japan’s stringent F★★★★ (F Four Star) certification and the US CARB Phase 2 certification.
For further details, please refer to our Formaldehyde Emission Test Certificate.
Q3. What substrates are typically used with Verdecor products?
Verdecor carefully selects substrates tailored specifically to each decorative finish:
- Solid Colour Series (NanoMatte, FineMatte, NanoGloss):
Exclusively use Super E0 (SE0) moisture-resistant (MR) MDF substrates to guarantee a flawlessly flat surface and eliminate the risk of orange-peel texture. - WoodGrain Series:
Offers both Particleboard (PB) and MDF substrates, each available in Super E0 (SE0) moisture-resistant (MR) grades. Additionally, an E0-grade MR substrate option is available, tailored for wardrobe interiors and volume builders. - WoodGrain 2070 and Elementa Series:
Specifically utilise Super E0 (SE0) moisture-resistant (MR) Particleboard substrates, optimised for superior quality and large-scale applications.
Overall, whether Particleboard or MDF, all our substrates are moisture-resistant (MR) and suitable for cabinetry doors. Customers can freely choose according to their specific application preferences and requirements.
Q4. What makes Verdecor Particleboard a great choice?
Verdecor Particleboard (PB) offers a range of distinct advantages thanks to our careful selection of materials and advanced manufacturing processes:
- Consistent and Stable Structure:
Made exclusively from peeled eucalyptus core, our particleboard ensures a consistent internal structure and even moisture distribution, significantly reducing the risk of warping. - Enhanced Moisture Resistance and Durability (Super E0 Grade):
Our Super E0 (SE0) particleboards use advanced MDI adhesive, greatly improving moisture resistance, reducing swelling, and boosting overall strength and durability. - Environmentally Friendly and Moisture-Resistant (E0 Grade):
Our standard E0 particleboard is manufactured with partially debarked eucalyptus and conventional urea-formaldehyde adhesive. This provides solid moisture-resistant performance and meets mainstream Australian environmental standards.
For detailed specifications and testing data, please refer to our Super E0 MR Particleboard Technical Data Sheet.
Overall, Verdecor Particleboard is valued for its clean composition, structural stability, and reliable performance, making it perfect for high-quality cabinetry and furniture applications.
Q5. What are the advantages of Verdecor MDF?
Verdecor MDF is a high-performance substrate crafted specifically to deliver exceptional quality and reliability. Key advantages include:
- Single-Species Composition (Peeled Pine):
Our MDF is produced using a single-species peeled pine timber core, resulting in a highly consistent and uniform internal structure. This significantly improves dimensional stability and reduces the risk of warping or deformation. - Advanced MDI Adhesive Technology:
All Verdecor MDF boards utilise advanced MDI adhesive, substantially enhancing moisture resistance, minimising swelling from moisture absorption, and providing superior internal bonding strength. - Outstanding Moisture Resistance:
With a low thickness-swelling rate, our MDF boards perform exceptionally well in high-humidity applications, ideal for cabinetry and furniture requiring durability and consistent performance. - Environmental Excellence (Super E0):
Certified to the stringent Super E0 (SE0) environmental standard, our MDF boards significantly surpass conventional Australian formaldehyde emission levels, contributing to healthier indoor environments.
For detailed specifications and testing data, please refer to our Super E0 MR MDF Technical Data Sheet.
In short, Verdecor MDF provides an optimal balance of strength, stability, moisture resistance, and environmental performance, making it a preferred choice for premium interior cabinetry and furniture solutions.
Q6. Why is the price difference between Verdecor’s MDF and Particleboard (PB) substrates larger compared to other brands?
The key reason for the larger price gap between Verdecor's MDF and Particleboard substrates compared to other brands lies in our choice of adhesive. Verdecor exclusively uses MDI adhesive, a premium, high-performance glue that significantly increases production costs compared to the conventional UF adhesives typically used by other brands.
MDF, due to its finer fibres, requires a higher volume of MDI adhesive to achieve optimal bonding. Particleboard, on the other hand, with its larger wood particles, naturally requires less adhesive. This difference in adhesive usage creates a larger price disparity between our MDF and Particleboard substrates compared to the MDF and Particleboard offered by competitors, whose adhesives (UF adhesives) are far less costly.
Ultimately, the superior quality, moisture resistance, and environmental performance provided by MDI adhesive justify this pricing structure, ensuring our customers receive products of unmatched durability and reliability.
Q7. Why does Verdecor's MDF substrate appear darker than MDF from other brands?
Verdecor MDF is darker due to the specific adhesive we use. Although our MDF substrate is made from peeled and washed pine fibres—which naturally have a pale-yellow colour—the deep-brown hue comes from our formaldehyde-free PMDI adhesive.
This adhesive provides significant advantages, including:
- True Zero Formaldehyde:
MDI resins, especially PMDI, emit no formaldehyde during curing, making them environmentally superior compared to traditional UF adhesives. - Enhanced Strength and Moisture Resistance:
PMDI adhesive forms permanent chemical bonds, delivering higher internal bonding strength and dramatically reduced swelling under humid conditions. - Extremely Low VOC Emissions:
PMDI adhesives significantly reduce Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions, improving indoor air quality—ideal for sensitive environments such as homes, schools, and healthcare facilities.

Q8. Are Verdecor products suitable for healthcare projects?
Yes. Verdecor provides several finish collections specifically suited to healthcare and hygiene-sensitive environments, including our NanoMatte, FineMatte, NanoGloss, and WoodGrain Nano collections. These collections utilise advanced Electron Beam (EB) curing technology, which creates an exceptionally dense, ultra-smooth surface. This effectively reduces the adhesion of bacteria and viruses, significantly limiting microbial growth.
Therefore, Verdecor’s EB-cured surfaces are ideal for hospitals, healthcare clinics, aged-care facilities, childcare centres, and any environment demanding high hygiene standards, ensuring safer and cleaner interior spaces.
